I’m a brand marketer with a background in interiors and a love for photography. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
Do you recharge on your own, or with others?
An introverted, extrovert. I need my alone time, but I can also feel lonely quite easily.
Where do you call home right now?
On the beach in Aspendale. It’s a bit of a hidden gem in Melbourne—the water is crystal clear and it’s only 30–40 minutes from the CBD. I live with my partner Jack in a cosy two-bedroom unit we recently renovated. It’s small, but homey.
Talk us through your morning routine.
Honestly, it changes day to day. When I’m working from home, I’ll usually get up, make a coffee, sit at the kitchen table and get stuck into work. I find I’m most productive in the first few hours of the day, so I try to embrace that. Sometimes I’ll put on a record and light a candle or incense to help me settle into focus mode.
What are some of your other daily rituals & routines?
I often try to end the afternoon with a swim, then wash the salt (and the day) off in a hot shower. I’ll usually light the oil burner, slow things down and shift into chill mode. Cooking dinner and cleaning up the kitchen also feels like a ritual to me.
What’s your one tip for finding the right routine?
Understand what works best for your own body and mind. Morning routines work for some, but for others, an evening ritual might make more sense. Tune into that.
Do you have any shared rituals?
When we were living in New York, my partner and I used to do The New Yorker crossword in bed every weekend. Now that we’re back in Melbourne, we’ve started doing the Good Weekend quiz over a Saturday coffee.
What sort of scents and fragrances do you lean towards in your home?
Scents are so seasonal and mood dependent. I love lemon tea tree for cleaning and clearing the space. In winter and at night, I gravitate towards deeper, smokier scents like amber and sandalwood. And for personal fragrance, I can’t go past bergamot.
Where do you go to get away from the world?
The ocean. The sound of the waves is instant calm.
What are you reading, watching or listening to at the moment?
Currently reading The Wedding People by Alison Espach.
What's your drink of choice?
Oat latte in the morning. Vermouth and soda with a twist if I’m out. If we’re talking wine, something French.
Who/what do you keep around you to ignite new ideas?
I have a lot of creative friends, and I love seeing what they’re working on. Otherwise magazines, old books, or any kind of print media I’ve recently picked up. I love being able to flick through something tangible.
What has influenced the design/interiors of your space?
My partner and I recently renovated our 1960s unit. Living near the beach definitely influenced our choices—it felt natural to keep things light, textural, and warm. The colour comes from all the art, ceramics, and vintage pieces I’ve collected over the years. Everything holds a story or memory.
What’s currently on your coffee table?
A stack of books—mostly cooking, indoor plants, and a Slim Aarons photo book. There’s also a brass candlestick holder that’s a bit of a family heirloom. I think it’s pretty cute. And of course my Flint Lighter in Gold.
One tip for finding your own interior style?
If you’re unsure of your interior style, take a look at your wardrobe. Chances are what you love in fashion is what you’ll enjoy—and not tire of—in your home. For example, do you love colour, or tend to avoid it?
